Canadian multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and self-produced artist Mac DeMarco has announced a five-show tour across Mainland China, presented by Modern Sky. Taking place from 28 February to 5 March 2026, the tour includes two nights in Shanghai, alongside performances in Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Guangzhou. Marking his long-awaited return to China after 13 years, the run follows the release of his latest album, Guitar.

Since emerging as one of indie music’s defining voices in 2012, Mac DeMarco has built a devoted global following through his unmistakable blend of lo-fi aesthetics, jangly guitar melodies, and laid-back songwriting. Often described as “slacker rock,” or by his own tongue-in-cheek term “jizz jazz,” his music has influenced a new generation of independent artists.

From breakthrough releases such as Salad Days, Another One, and This Old Dog to the ambitious 199-track collection One Wayne G, DeMarco has continually redefined what independent music can be through his deeply personal songwriting and unmistakable DIY approach. His latest album, Guitar, was created almost entirely by DeMarco himself, with every aspect of the recording, production, artwork, and music videos completed independently, further reflecting his commitment to artistic freedom.

Bringing music from across his celebrated catalogue as well as his latest release, the upcoming China tour offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience one of contemporary indie music’s most distinctive live performers, whose relaxed stage presence and spontaneous performances have earned him fans around the world.
